Preparing Your Child for the Season

Starting a new season at WSE Soccer Academy is an exciting milestone for every young athlete. However, for parents, it often comes with a long list of questions: What should they wear? What should they eat? How can I best support them from the sidelines?

To ensure a smooth start for your child—whether they are joining us at Bear Creek Park or through our After School programs—we’ve put together this essential guide to help you navigate the WSE experience.

1. The Gear: Dressing for Success

The right equipment is vital for safety and performance. At WSE, we take pride in our identity, and the official kit is a key part of that.

  • The Uniform: Ensure your child has the official Navy and White kit clean and ready.
  • Footwear: Cleats are essential for grass fields, while turf shoes are recommended for specific surfaces. Don’t forget the shin guards—safety is non-negotiable!
  • Hydration: Always pack a reusable water bottle. Staying hydrated is the first step toward peak performance.

2. Nutrition: Fueling the Young Athlete

A high-energy sport like soccer requires the right fuel.

  • Pre-Training: A light snack rich in carbohydrates (like a banana or yogurt) 60 minutes before practice provides the necessary energy.
  • Recovery: After training, focus on protein and hydration to help muscles recover.

3. Understanding the Calendar

WSE operates through a structured annual cycle: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter seasons.

  • Stay Informed: Keep an eye on the schedule for your specific location (Orlando, Kissimmee, or Charter Schools).
  • Punctuality: Arriving 10–15 minutes early allows your child to mentally transition from “school mode” to “soccer mode.”

4. Your Role on the Sidelines: The Positive Fan

At WSE, we build “Integral People”. As a parent, your most important job is to be their biggest fan, not their second coach.

  • Encourage Effort: Focus on their hard work and sportsmanship rather than just the score.
  • Respect the Game: Modeling respect for referees and opponents reinforces the values we teach on the pitch.

The WSE Family Connection

Our academy thrives on the partnership between coaches, players, and parents. By following this guide, you’re helping us create a professional and supportive environment where your child can truly shine.

“The secret to a great player often starts with a supportive and well-prepared parent.”
